About Me
From the UK and around the globe
From the City to the Coast
From Recruitment to Yoga
Like a lot of people, I fell into yoga because I was looking for a form of exercise that didn’t involve feeling self-conscious working out in front of people in a gym, so at 19 I started practicing yoga at University.
However it wasn’t until I visited India that I fell truly in love with yoga and discovered there was so much more. That one class, practiced on a hessian mat, in 45 degree heat, taught by a 65 year old Yogi was the turning point. He never introduced himself, he just sat, eyes closed, meditating and chanting as we came in. We sat in silence for, what at the time, seemed like a lifetime and he then guided us through the practice of singing the instructions. It was a series of crazy beautiful asanas (poses) which in the UK I wouldn’t have even tried for fear of looking stupid. But this Yogi just laughed and sang, and I was so lost in the practice I didn’t notice the heat or have a second to feel self-conscious. We ended with a long Savasana (lying in relaxation) and I came out feeling like I was floating and smiling from ear to ear.
And that is how I found the real yoga and began to learn the depth and beauty of what it is.
Years later I went on to train in Vinyasa Yoga with Liz Lindh at Lakshmi Rising in the most beautiful setting in Costa Rica. Liz truly gave me (and our Yogi tribe!) the most life-changing experience where we were immersed in nature, took time to be silent, and journey further into yoga and ourselves. (That’s me on the right in the photo at the top!)
I hope to share what I have learnt, continue to learn, and sometimes struggle to remember. That it’s OK to not be perfect - there is no such thing. It’s OK to rest when you need to, to push yourself when you need to, to be kind to your body and be strong with your mind. Accept yourself, love yourself, take time for yourself. And find a like-minded community who will support you in that journey.
So welcome - I can’t wait to meet you and practice with you.
