Info & FAQ

What is yoga?

Yoga is an ancient Philosophy that started in India. It isn’t just a physical form of exercise (this is one small part), it is a form of meditation through conscious movement, connecting with the breath and calming the mind. It is a practice which brings you back to you when sometimes you feel lost. It reminds you to really take time to live in the moment and be mindful not to rush through life and miss the smaller moments. This practice does not come in one form; sometimes it can be an 90 minute Power workout session, sometimes stretching for 15 minutes, sometimes it’s laughter and play, and sometimes it’s having a cry on your mat. Whatever you do, as long as you do it consciously, listen to your body and what it needs in that moment, is yoga.

I’m not flexible - can I still do yoga?

YES! Yoga is for EVERYONE! You probably have seen thousands of Instagram posts of crazy postures, handstands, the splits, bending into a pretzel…but you DO NOT have to be able to do this. Yes it can be really fun to do these things - if you want to. And yes you will become more flexible the more you practice but all you need for yoga is an open-mind and to be prepared to really tune in and listen to what your body needs that day. Just turn up - however you’re feeling - there is no wrong day to practice.

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable breathable clothing that you can easily and confidently move in. Try and avoid baggy t-shirts as they can get a little annoying when they fall over your head in Downward Dog! You don’t need shoes as we practice barefoot. And bring a cosy jumper/shawl/cover-up and socks for our Savasana (relaxation) at the end of practice.

Do I need to bring a mat?

Yes if you have one. If you don’t please contact me at the time of booking as I have limited number available for you to borrow.

What time do I arrive?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class to settle onto your mat. If you are running late please call me. If it’s your first class with us please arrive 15 minutes early to talk through any injuries and any questions you have.

I’ve got an injury - can I still do yoga?

Usually yes, as I will be able to give you modifications, but this depends on what the injury is and your experience and knowledge of yoga. Please contact me before booking and we can discuss in more detail.

I have an underlying medical condition - can I still do yoga?

If you have any underlying medical conditions it is always recommended to speak to your GP and get Medical Advice first.

I’m new to yoga - can I still attend any class?

Yes you can. Just arrive 15-20 minutes early to meet and discuss any injuries and I will run you through everything else and ease your mind of any worries. It is also advisable to do a private class to begin with if that’s of interest.

I’m nervous about class - what can I expect?

Don’t worry it is totally normal to be nervous! You will be guided and supported throughout the whole class. We are all super friendly and will just have some fun. Come with an open mind and turn up 15 minutes early to ask any questions and discuss any injuries.

I am pregnant but new to yoga - can I still attend a class?

If you are completely new to yoga it is advisable to only attend Pre-Natal classes until you are passed your first trimester and have a little more yoga experience.

I have practised yoga for a while and I’ve just found out that I’m pregnant - can I still join a class?

It’s advisable to wait until after the first trimester before you come back to your regular class again and suggest you take our Pre-Natal class in the meantime. These Pre-Natal classes are modified for you and your baby and it’s also a great way to meet other mothers and share the experience. If you have practiced here before then you will need to update your waiver and advise me before class or at the time of booking. Any questions just get in touch.

What if I need to cancel a booking?

Please let me know as soon as possible - ideally 24 hours before class so we can fill your space. A full refund will be given up until 4 hours before class.
